NAPLES, Fla. — FC Naples is facing its first stretch of adversity this season after dropping consecutive matches to Miami FC and Knoxville One SC.
The losses mark the first time this year the club has fallen in back-to-back games — an unfamiliar position for a team that has spent much of the season near the top of the league standings.
Despite the results, the team is keeping its perspective and leaning on its mindset to move forward.
“What do they say? Be a goldfish. Have a short memory,” head coach Matt Poland said.
“I like to always say: the ball is round. You know, some things just don’t go your way,” forward Dominic Bachstein added.
FC Naples is now focused on responding, relying on the strengths that have defined its season so far.
That includes a defense anchored by goalkeeper Edward Delgado, who has been among the league’s top performers. Delgado is tied for the most clean sheets so far this season among all USL League One goalkeepers.
