FC Naples had the chance to write a memorable underdog story that the city of Naples has never seen before.
For the first time in its two-year history, FC Naples hosted Major League Soccer (MLS) team Orlando City SC in the Round of 32 of the Lamar Hunt U.S Open Cup at the Paradise Sports Complex on Wednesday, April 15.
Orlando City SC had previously won the Lamar Hunt U.S Open Cup in 2022. The city of Naples was in for a memorable night with the magnitude of FC Naples’ opponent and the hometown club’s momentum.
Naples native Max Solis was part of the the sellout crowd.
“It’s obviously awesome to see the city coming together like this, especially since we have so many different classes in Naples,” Solis said. “It really shows how soccer brings people together.”
