NAPLES, Fla. — Wednesday was the biggest night in the history of FC Naples as the team hosted a Major League Soccer team in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
This was the first time that a professional soccer team had come to Naples, and Southwest Florida was more than ready for the occasion.
A sellout crowd packed Paradise Coast Sports Complex for this Round of 32 matchup.
The festivities were grand, but soon enough, it was time to play soccer.
Orlando struck first blood with a goal early in the first half, but shortly following, FC Naples began to settle in.
They threatened, they attacked, but the ball just could not find the back of the net.
Unfortunately, FC Naples big night did not end the way they had hoped, but regardless of the result, this was a night that Southwest Florida will remember forever.
