FC Naples reached a significant milestone in their historic inaugural season with a victory in a penalty kick shootout in last Saturday’s quarterfinal match against Union Omaha, marking them as the first expansion club to win a playoff match.
“You always want to enjoy the process and in sports, it’s always looking ahead to what’s next,” said Matt Poland, head coach of FC Naples. “And so told the guys to take the night after winning and the next day and take some time to enjoy it.”
“It’s an unbelievable feeling but one that we have to put in the back of our minds now,” said midfielder Kevin O’Connell, reflecting on the victory.
